'Pictures of San Antonio' is here to show off a sampling of images, taken by local San Antonio photographers. I hope you'll visit some of the artists' sites -- they've all got many great photos to display. Unfortunately, I can only show off one per day here! Many of the pictures shown here are available for purchase or licensing. Many images can be printed as full-size photos and can be matted and/or framed. If you're interested, please do get in touch with the photographer listed beneath each photo or feel free to contact me at: info @ alamocitypictures.com.

What can I say about the city of San Antonio or any local photographer in just a few words? But many people like to get a little context when viewing our photos. What follows is just that -- a sampling of San Antonio. You'll find several interesting facts and just a little bit about the local photography scene. I'm not trying to be comprehensive. I'm sure you can find many great sites out there for that. But you also may find that any single image above can provide a unique view of the city.
San Antonio was founded in 1718
It was named for the Italian Saint Anthony of Padua.
Famous for the Battle of the Alamo in 1836, when fewer than 200 soldiers defended the Alamo mission against over 4,000 Mexican troops for 13 days
With its strong roots in historic Spanish-American culture, the architecture of San Antonio is best described as Spanish-Colonial, with five distinct Spanish missions as well as the original San Fernando Cathedral
With 1.9 million people in the city, it's the seventh largest city in the United States, the second-largest in Texas
By land area, it covers 412 square miles
Downtown is made up of several districts, including the Alamo District, Alamodome District, the Central Business District, and the Houston Street District, among several others.
"A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know" -- Diane Arbus, American photographer
